I’ve bought the ‘White’ and ‘Deep Rose’ cultivars of this plant. Two are planted in the wall trough, and one in the border near my herbs. The wall troughs have been an odyssey. I have two lovely metal ones which had coir in.. and you guessed it, the jackdaws decimated the coir to the point where it the entire contents looked like they were going to drop out.
This year I bought two plastic troughs from Elho’s ‘Urban’ range to replace them. That worked well, we bought the cast iron brackets and trays and I filled them with last years plants and some tete-a-tetes. Unfortunately I forgot to factor in langholm’s precipitation and the trays prevented the troughs from draining properly as they were constantly full of water. All the bulbs rotted. 🙁 I won’t make that mistake again. I’ve removed the trays and increased the drainage stones . Hopefully that should do it. This trough has a ‘white’ and a ‘Deep Rose’ at each end and a lovely heather in the middle. Heather does really well here. Can’t imagine why!
