White Stonecrop (Sedum album)

Evergreen Succulent
Sedum album is a fast, low growing evergreen perennial that is a great source of groundcover and can tolerate poor soil conditions. The foliage is unusually shaped and fleshy with succulent green leaves flushed with red. In spring it blooms with small white star shaped flowers that become tinted with a increasingly pinkish hue as summer wears on. It is an excellent supporter of local wildlife, especially bees and butterflies. This variety is drought tolerant once established.

Because the plant is low to the ground, mat forming, and spreads aggressively, it can be used for ground cover in a sunny position; although it can overwhelm other plants of similar height.
When I first planted this, the jackdaws took a liking to it and proceeded to pull it to bits. For the last few weeks they seem to have left it alone. It looks lovely now, and the jackdaws are pulling my wall basket liner to bits instead.
