Sow on the surface of a tray of moist seed compost and sprinkle with compost to cover. Place inside a propagator or seal inside a clear polythene bag at 18-21°C until germination in 10-21 days. Do not exclude light. Transplant into individual 5cm cells or 7.5cm pots when large enough to handle, and grow on in cooler, brighter conditions. After all risk of frost, acclimate to outdoor conditions then plant 23cm (9″) apart.
This adaptable species will often grow in poor and sandy soils and is tolerant of coastal conditions too.
Another freebie with Garden Answers sub. So far germination rate has been excellent, the seedlings are quite flimsy though so I will wait a bit before transferring to pots.
