Cosmos Double AllSorts (Cosmos bipinnatus)

Half-hardy annual
A wide range of flower forms and colours including picotees and tripes. An easy-to-grow annual which will flower all summer. It’s height means it will make a superb backdrop to borders.
Note image of Cosmo is not this cultivar as I struggled to find one on a free stock site.

Sow March to May, 3mm deep in seed compost and cover with a sprinkling of vermiculaite. Place seed try in a propagator at 18-25°C or seal inside a polythene bag. Keep soil damp but not wet. Germination usually takes 7-15 days. Do not exclude light as this aids germination. When seedlings are large enough, transplant into 7.5cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When risk of frost has passed, acclimate outdoors over 7-10 days. Transplant into any moist, well-drained soil 45cm (18″) apart.
Freebie with Garden Answers. I’ve not grown Cosmos before so will be interested to see how they pan out. They might be a bit too tall for our skinny border though, until we get around to widening it.
