Sow thinly in trays of seed compost. Cover with 0.5cm of compost, firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass or seed propagator, seedlings appear in 21-49 days. Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough, transplant 10 cm apart in trays or individual pots. Stand outside for a few days to acclimatise (avoid frosts). Transplant 30cm apart in flowering position, September to October. Keep moist and weed-free.
Trim back plants after flowering to retain their shape.
Edible Flowers can be used as a flavouring and ‘crystallised’ for decoration.
I’ve lost count of the amount of lavender plants I’ve killed. No easy feat considering they seem to be an ‘easy’ plant to grow. They were all in pots though. This time I intend to plant the border with lavendar, probably around 4 plants to add bulk and divide up the various plants. Mum had two well established lavender bushes at the bungalow which I managed to keep alive. I expect the new owner has ripped all that out now.
